About Children’s Medical Center

Comprehensive Pediatric Care in Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida

Children’s Medical Center was founded in 1992, when Drs. Thomas Hennessy and “Dino” Pantages combined their existing practices into one location, in Palm Harbor, Florida. This location continues to be our anchor office on US-19. Over the years, it has grown from four practicing physicians to our current 22. Our management teams also work at this location.

In 1995, we opened our first satellite office in Trinity on old SR-54. A year later, we moved to Little Road. During this period, we grew from one full-time practice to five physician practices. In July of 2008, we moved our office to a new facility on SR-54, just east of the entrance to Longleaf. In 2004, we opened our Westchase office, and in 2017, we opened our Lutz office.

At Children’s Medical Center, we strive to make families comfortable by advocating for whatever the parents or caregivers think and feel their children need, and we are prepared to help in meeting those needs as the child’s medical home.

Our practice aspires to be a place where physicians and staff work collaboratively to provide high quality care, and enjoy doing so, because of the positive workplace culture that exists within our organization.

By meeting those goals, we hope to contribute positively to our local community. We do it by supporting healthy families, providing community education, and being a resource. And Children’s Medical Center continues to provide services for whomever needs us for years to come, as an independent, free-standing practice.

Note: Children’s Medical Center offers a Meet and Greet for all new patients.

Our Mission

We are dedicated to providing premier pediatric healthcare in a nurturing and convenient medical home. We enjoy seeing families grow and hope to contribute positively to our local community by supporting healthy families, providing community education and being a trusted resource for years to come.

To fulfill this mission, we are committed to:

  • Improving the lives of the children we serve by providing quality care in a child-centered environment.
  • Listening to our young patients and their families, who we are privileged to serve.
  • Guiding our patients along a path of optimal health and wellness.
  • Continually pursuing excellence at all levels through continuing education.

Patient Center Medical Home /Care Coordination

If your child has been diagnosed with, or is at risk for developing, certain chronic illnesses and diseases or behavioral health problems such as asthma , diabetes , ADHD , or obesity, you may be assigned to a special Care Coordination Team. Each team is made up of one of our physicians, a medical assistant, and a care coordinator who will develop an individualized care plan for your child. They also help to coordinate specialty care to  provide you with community resources and support.

If you are enrolled in this program, we will encourage you to choose a main primary pediatrician to serve as your Children’s Medical Center Team Leader so that he/she may closely oversee your child’s treatment.

NCQA’s Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Recognition program is the most widely adopted PCMH evaluation program in the country. Approximately 13,000 practices (with 67,000 clinicians) are recognized by NCQA. More than 100 payers support NCQA Recognition through financial incentives or coaching.
